Great for gun safe
I purchased a gun safe which came with a motion activated LED strip similar to these, but wasn’t enough to illuminate both sides of the safe & top shelf. I bought these thinking I’d just add a couple more and it worked out great. The one included with the safe attached with velcro to the felt lining of the safe– so I had to apply velcro to the back of the magnet holder to mount these. It worked okay, but not as secure as I would like (due to the magnetic holder being so small compared to the light strip), but so far is doing the job.Motion sensing is accurate, any movement of the door of the safe and/or transition from dark to light will cause it to turn on– exactly what I wanted. Turns off if no motion is detected within about 30 seconds or so. If you’re still fumbling around in the safe, any movement will kick it back on. Plenty bright for this application, very pleased.

PROS:-Relatively cheap-Easy to install-Bright-Great motion sensor, does not depend on ambient light level to turn on (will turn on even if the room is bright)CONS:-one in particular kept falling off the mount, probably whenever I reached in to grab clothes off the rack-make sure you leave enough room so your hand doesn’t bump it-turns off quickly when motion not detected, this could also be a PRO as it saves your batteries, but many times I have stood in front the closet trying to decide what to wear and the light came off-after about 10 months of use, the sensor no longer worked and the light stayed on constantly, even though it was still switched to Auto. Of course this drained the batteries, but when I changed them, it still would not turn on again. One failed first, then the other, then the third, so average about 10 months lifespan for each light.Overall, not bad for the price.

Works as advertised but VERY hard to remove 3rd battery (and only lasted 2 years)
I like this, it’s cheap cheerful and bright however if you’re using rechargeable batteries which are possibly a tiny bit thicker than standard alkaline batteries you’re going to have to work very hard to remove the third battery from this when it comes time to change batteries. I don’t use alkaline so it’s entirely possible that using disposable batteries makes it easier to remove the third battery but for those eco-conscious people be warned you’re going to need tweezers or some sort of thin bit of metal to take out the final battery which is a bit of a design flaw hence only 4 stars. I’ll return these if I am fully unable to get out the battery when it is time to replace it (before the 30 day coverage ends) however if it is possible to get it out I will be very happy with this purchase. If you want to use rechargeables and don’t want to have to force the third battery out, look elsewhere.Edit: unfortunately because of the issues with tightness after 2 years of use these failed when the spring no longer caused the 3 AAs to make contact.

Great concept but 3 out of 5 have failed exactly the same way – stay on until battery dies
We bought a 3 pack of these and loved them. I love that they are magnetic and can be taken down easily. I love they use rechargeable AA batteries, so I don’t have to plug the dang thing into a USB charger every month. The batteries seemed to last 2-6 months. I love the motion detection–perfect for closet use where we needed them. So we bought 2 more.But within a year, 3 of the 5 failed on. Even the slide switch on OFF position did not turn them off (who’s heard of THAT?) So now, they lights are useless. Typical with the stupid-cheap quality of Chinese products.Now I need to find another motion-sensing, AA battery closet light.
